We hope you and your family will join us at the Southern Hills all-church family campout at beautiful Abilene State Park, April 24-26. During this weekend, we hope that many nature hikes are experienced, many marshmallows are roasted, many wonderful meals are shared, many new friendships begin, and many old ones are nurtured. But most of all we hope to draw closer to God and our church family as we enjoy time together.

Whether you just come for the day on Saturday, or spend one or both nights outdoors, the family campout will be a great time to get away from the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives, slow down, listen to the birds, and watch children play. You can enjoy a cup of coffee under the trees, experience encouragement on the wings of the songs we offer in praises to our Lord around the campfire, or explore the rustic beauty of the park.

Who can attend: People of all ages. Families, couples, singles, grandparents, grandchildren, etc.

Accommodations: Families will need to book their own accommodations through the Texas State Park website. If you want a screened shelter, reach out to Holly Racca. The church has already reserved them for our folks. If you are staying overnight in a tent, RV, or yurt, we suggest reserving as close to the screened shelters as possible, since that will be our home base for the weekend. (Tent campsites 37-45, RV campsites 49-53 or 85-90, or the yurts would be our recommendation.) Daypasses are required for those who are just staying for the day. Use the link below to reserve your spot or to purchase a day pass.

Activities: Most of our time will be unstructured opportunities to hang out and experience the outdoors. There will be some group activities, including a campfire devotional, games, and shared meals. (See below.)

Food: If you spend the night, two breakfasts, two dinners, and lunch will be provided. If you come for the day on Saturday, lunch and dinner will be provided.

Cost: $50 per family for those staying overnight; $20 per family for those coming just on Saturday. (This is in addition to the cost of park fees.)

Time: Overnight participants can arrive Friday between 5:00-8:00 p.m., with dinner being served from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Day-only families can arrive at the park Saturday around 9:00 a.m. and depart around 7:00 p.m.

Deadline: Registration ends April 19.
